Take in Purple Martin banding, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, Saturday, July 6 and Saturday, July 13.
Innis Park Bird Observatory is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of birds and natural history. On July 6 and July 13, they will be banding Purple Martins at the Nepean Sailing Club (Dick Bell Park, 3259 Carling Avenue) along the Ottawa River, where one of the largest colonies of purple martins in the region nests in high-rise “bird condos.” And you and your children are invited!
This is a great family-friendly opportunity to see the banding of the birds and recording of their data. While this event is not an MFNC field trip, we have enjoyed our outings with the organization in recent years
Easy parking is available.
