The Rocky Nature of the Nopiming

Here you are invited to step off the trail to stand atop this rock outcrop. Under your feet are not one but three types of rock! The white is quartz, a mineral you have already been introduced to. The bare rock is a granitoid, a hard, acidic igneous rock created in the molten bowels of the Earth. The third is calcium-rich marble, the most common rock in the Nopiming, This metamorphic rock was once formed from sediments lying beneath an ancient sea. Tremendous heat and pressure transformed the sediments into the marble present today.
