Missing our coffee, tea and treats time?

A rare photo of Betty Michalowski, second from left; Betty much prefers being behind the camera than in front.

Working mostly behind the scenes at Macnamara meetings and events, Betty Michalowski is not one for fanfare.  But Betty, a member for seven years now, has been a stalwart supporter of the club in many ways, including the management of our mid-meeting refreshments. Meeting after meeting and with clockwork precision Betty has ensured we have ample coffee, tea, goodies and accoutrements in time and place for our 10 to 15 minutes of break after the announcements and sightings and before the scheduled speaker takes the floor. Then, just as efficiently, she guides other volunteers who pitch in to clean up and put away so you’d hardly know we’d been there—we appreciate being able to rent the facilities and do our best to stay on good terms.

Guess what? It’s time for one or more other members to take on this essential role —Betty is stepping down at the end of June. As you might expect, she has in place clear notes and instructions to guide those members stepping up. We had anticipated a three-month bridging period to “show and tell” what’s needed and how to do it but the required cancellation of our April, May and June meetings has sunk that plan.

Will you step up? Betty has graciously offered hands-on help with the changeover when we resume meeting in September (that’s the best projection as of now). If you can help, please contact Maureen Carrier at mailto:info@mfnc.ca
