What: A lichen walk with Dr. Troy McMullin, a lichenologist and head of Botany at the Canadian Museum of Nature.

Details: One of the nice things about lichens is that they do not change throughout the year so they can be appreciated at any time, like the end of November. There is a rich lichen biota on the trail. Many species are "large" and can be seen with the naked eye, but others are minute, and a hand lens will come in handy. We will be keeping an eye out for Pale Bellied-Frost Lichen, which is listed as endangered both provincially and federally, and is known to occur in this general region. The trail is a loop that is about 2.7 km total with easy to moderate difficulty. We will have lunch at the lookout.
