The weather forecast for our long-awaited trip was terrible but, not to be deterred, 18 of us arrived in Brighton on May 12 and, after most of us shared a lovely meal at the Harbourview Café, we went to bed with rain gear lined up for the morning. Amazingly, the rain never materialized and the day was perfect. The birds were lower in numbers that what we would normally expect for this time of year but there were certainly enough around for us to observe and photograph. My list for the day was 61 species. The pictures below tell it all! Thanks to our photographers.
Lastly, many thanks from all of us to our amazing leader, Doug McRae, who made the whole day fun and extremely interesting. When we were not seeing birds, Doug kept us interested by pointing out other things natural and by sharing stories from his vast knowledge of the natural world and especially Presqu’ile Park.
