While the exotic appeal of far-off Mexico —the winter habitat of Monarch butterflies, the subject of our passionate banquet speaker Jean Lauriault—may have flashed briefly across a few minds, the ticket holders at our mid-November banquet found more than enough warmth and entertainment to keep them occupied at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre hall.

Banquet goers were entertained with great food, company and a Jeopardy-style quiz that stretched the mind into new connections of nature photos with sayings, songs and TV programs—some current and others going back some 50 years.

Of the silent auction and door prize winners, none was more delighted (and envied) than Cathy Merritt, who won the draw for an enlargement of any image from Algonquin Seasons, donated by Michael Runtz.

Huge thanks go out to Judy Seligy, who managed the event three years running, her volunteers and the individuals and businesses who donated items for the silent auction and door prizes.

Some $1,900 was raised for the trail extension.
