On June 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., the High Lonesome Nature Reserve celebrates the opening of its new Welcome Centre coupled with a Hygge Tree Event.
The opening ceremony will be followed by a Hygge Tree outing. Admission for this part of the day is a $10 donation to MMLT. Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) is a Danish word expressing a feeling of contentment and connection, exactly what one feels when surrounded by trees whispering softly in the wind. Visitors will be invited to become one with nature as they consider the distinct personalities of different tree species along the trails, to learn more about them and their connections within the natural world and with people.
