Help MMLT Create the Byrne Big Creek Nature Preserve

Joel Byrne, dear friend, naturalist, feeder of squirrels, chipmunks and birds, and strong supporter of the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT) and local field naturalist clubs such as ours,  has bequeathed his beloved 100-acre Big Creek to MMLT to ensure that it is conserved in perpetuity and continues to be shared with friends and community. Much of it is Provincially Significant Wetland including an impressive fen. It also contains a beautiful hardwood forest and a large meadow.

The MMLT needs $48,500 to complete the acquisition and to pay for long term stewardship.

Give by November 30 and Irene’s Pub in Ottawa will match your donation, up to $5,000.

All donations over $20 receive a charitable tax receipt.

On Wednesday, Nov 29, there will be a celebration of Joel and his wonderful gift at the Barley Mow in Almonte starting at 7:00 p.m. where there will be a cover charge of $10 that will go towards the campaign. This will be first of a series of campaign events taking place until the MMLT reaches the goal.
