Leader: Art Goldsmith
Meet: at the front door of West Carleton Secondary School. We will walk back to the Bill Mason Centre from there. There is ample parking in the school parking lot.
The trail at the BMC meanders over boardwalks through a wetland then passes through forest and fields, providing different habitats for a variety of birds. Target species in the wetland will be Swamp Sparrow, Wilson’s Snipe, American Bittern, Virginia Rail and Sora. In the forest and fields we should see a variety of songbirds and woodpeckers. There will be mosquitoes and possibly ticks so cover up and bring repellent. The terrain is flat but wear comfortable shoes because we will walk for a kilometre or more.
