Birding at Shirley’s Bay

Under the excellent leadership of Jon Ruddy we went to Shirley’s Bay in the late afternoon looking for migrating shorebirds and warblers. We were not to be disappointed as we totalled 55 species in less than 3 hours. Some highlights:  1 American Bittern, at least 10 Great Egret, 4 Long-billed Dowitcher, a duck leading a flock of Canada Geese!, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, a Peregrine Falcon hunting the shallow waters, 3 Black-bellied Plover,  8 warbler species. The time of year, time of day and location were excellent and a must for 2016!

Thanks Jon!
