On March 3rd, MFNC members were treated to what was a reportedly a great trip to identify trees on the Macnamara Nature Trail. One member found the trip leader, Erik Pohanka very funny because “he believes using a leaf for identification is not cheating.” Doing it the hard way, the group found five species of Maple trees, 3 different kinds of Ash trees including 2 specimens of endangered Black Ash. The group will be challenged to remember what they learned about twigs, buds and barks. John Lawrence did a marvelous Power Point summary of their observations which we hope we can share with everyone soon.
