Raptors with John Ruddy

In this wonderful winter of the Snowy Owls, we were fortunate to see 6 during our afternoon field trip in the Arnprior-Pakenham area.  They provided ample opportunity for picture-taking.  Along with the owls, we counted 3 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 Rough-legged Hawk, 1 Northern Shrike and 1 Cooper’s Hawk. A Sunday in Algonquin Park

Over 30 of us gathered in the early morning of Feb.16 to car pool from Arnprior to Algonquin Park. Once in the park we made a few stops, where some of the birds we were delighted to see were Red Crossbill, Gray Jay, Purple Finch and Red-breasted Nuthatch.

Geotour of the Macnamara Trail

Saturday brought 19 hardy folk to the Macnamara Trail to study some of its geological features. We had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed the first snowfall while observing several notable outcrops along the trail and visiting two old quarries.
