Again this year we were fortunate to hear and see owls as we travelled the roads in the Stewartville-Pakenham area. Under clear, starry skies about 60 of us, led by our president, Michael Runtz, were treated to the sights and sounds of our nocturnal friends. Michael, using his vocal imitations, was able to elicit responses from Barred Owls at two different locations and then along Bellamy Road we were able to hear and see two Northern Saw-whet owls. Finally, in Pakenham we were treated to the flight of an Eastern Screech-Owl at close range. For many, this was a first-time experience and will not be forgotten soon.
