With a clear quorum (59 out of 115) representing 51% of the MFNC’s members in attendance and awaiting as-yet-unseen images from Michael Runtz’s cross-Canada road trip, vice-president Janet Mason got right down to business at the MFNC’s 2019 Annual General Meeting on December 3, 2019, inviting the executive to present their 2019 reports for discussion and review. The year-end 2019 Financial Statement as well as the 2020 budget will be presented to the members in the New Year for approval; drafts were provided in the interim. All have been posted on the MFNC website.
Familiar names will be returning to the executive, although some holders may have new roles. Continuing directors include Ritchie Lawrence, Janet Mason and Yvonne Wissing, while Maureen Carrier (returning director), John McEwen (returning director), Karen Runtz (returning director), Michael Runtz (returning director) and Janet McCullough (new director) were elected to the Board for a two-year term.
The updated Constitution and By-Laws of the Macnamara Field Naturalists’ Club were also presented to the membership and approved.
Then, settled back in their chairs after a short break, attentive to Michael’s marvellous images and stories, attendees were transported through the rich diversity of habitats and wildlife he encountered on his remarkable cross-country journey.
